Color Challenge #44

This is a little late since I'm still doing some Christmas baking. I don't mind though as I love to bake goodies! Of course I love eating them too so it's a good thing I package them as soon as they are cooled to be given away, lol!! I want to thank everyone who has been playing in the color challenges this past year! It has been so fun for me to come up with these color combinations and see what you make with them. I get so inspired viewing all the different projects with the same colors, it really gets me thinking out of the box more often! I'm setting some new goals for next year as I want to start submitting layouts to publish so I won't be doing the color challenges come January. It's been such a fun year with everyone and it makes me sad to stop, but with all of the positive feedback I've gotten I want to try and see if my artwork is good enough for publication and that is going to be taking more of my crafting time. Anyway, I have another Christmasy color combo for you ^_~ To play use at least 3 of the colors and send me a link to your creation so I can see it and post the link to it here as well! Have fun with the colors and thanks for playing in the challenges with me ladies, it's been a blast!

Cranberry
Sorbet
Juniper
Ponderosa Pine

My Sample:

I made some super simple recipe cards to go with some of the shortbread I'm giving out. I've had a few requests for the recipe so I thought on the rest of them I would just give a recipe card to go with it as well. I used the Gratitude stamp set from CTMH for the flowers. Other than that it's just simply printing the recipe on white CS and then matting it on some ponderosa pine cardstock. There will be one more color challenge for next week. It will be the last weekly color challenge I host. I hope you have all enjoyed seeing and playing in the color challenges!

If you can't read the recipe on the card here it is, they are very yummilicious!

Cinnamon Pecan Shortbread Bars

1 C butter, softened
1 C sugar
1 egg
2 C flour
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 C chopped pecans (separated)

Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 13x9 pan. In a large bowl, combine butter and sugar, beat until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Add flour, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla; mix well. Stir in ½ C of the pecans. Press dough in bottom of pan. Sprinkle remaining ½ C pecans over dough; press in lightly. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely then cut into bars.

Enjoy and have a wonderful Monday!!

Color Challenge #43

Hope got me all Christmasafied with the Bella color challenge this week so this week I'm doing a very Christmasy combo :D To play use at least 3 of the colors and send me a link to your artwork so I can add it here! Have fun with the colors!

Tulip
Kiwi
Topiary
Colonial White

Carla's Lovely Spring I Love You Card
Sparkle's Darling Lattebella Christmas Cards

My sample:

Supplies: Cardstock, Ribbon, Buttons, Ink, Say it in Style, Bird Basics, Aspiration, and Intrinsic Backgrounds stamp sets by CTMH

You get some sneak peeks at some of the new CTMH stamp sets coming out in January :D The bird, background, and branch are from new spring sets. They are actually the only new sets I got and are an early Christmas prezzie from my hubby ^_~ I have a lot of new artwork coming up using these darling birds and the new Aspiration stamp set as well so get ready for spring!! Thanks for playing and have fun with the Christmasy colors!!

Color Challenge #42

I was in the mood to try and mix and match some CTMH paper packs and that's what spurned this combo. Usually I purposefully try to avoid color combos that are in the paper packs just to kind of get everyone (myself included ^_~) out of the box and be more creative with the CS and single tone papers. But this time I took the colors from two paper packs and combined them, so we'll see how it goes. To play use at least 3 of the colors in a new project and then comment me here with a link to your creation so I can add the link to this post ^_~. Have fun creating!!

Crystal Blue
Desert Sand
Chocolate
Dutch Blue
Outdoor Denim (optional)

Nicole's Snow Day Layout
Alanna's Fun Bella Card
Carla's Sweet Flower Birthday Card
Sparkle's Darling Snowboardabella Card

My Sample:

Supplies: Caprice and Serendipity Papers, CS, Ricrac Rounds, Friendship Large Alpha, Classmate Alpha, and Friendship Alpha stamp sets, Buttons, Spirals, Ink, Waxy Flax, and Brads by CTMH; Snowflake punches by Marvy Uchida

I did a layout to try and get my scrappin' mojo back. I have a lot of pictures I have been wanting to scrap plus the New Year is inching closer and though I know I won't make the big goal of having 365 pages done, I want to at least get as close as I can. If I can make it to the 280 mark I'll be really happy! This is Audrey 2 years ago and I was so glad to finally scrap them! I've found it has become difficult for me to scrap my pre-digital photos, so anytime I get some of them scrapped I feel doubly accomplished!! Anyway, thanks for stopping by and have fun with the challenge!

Color Challenge #41

Wow, it is already December! I wanted to do a color combo that felt cozy and I wanted to use Sorbet. It's one of my favorite colors and I have yet to really utilize it. To play use at least 3 of the colors and send me a link to your artwork so I can post it here. Have fun with the combo!

Sorbet
Crystal Blue
Twilight
Creme Brulee
Supplies: Gratitude, Spot on Backgrounds, and Cottage Floral Stamp Sets, Chipboard Letters, Sorbet Ribbon, Fresh Cuts Chipboard, Twilight brads, and Cardstock all by CTMH; Big Brads by American Crafts; H and E Chipboard Letters by Rusty Pickle

I wanted to do something other than a card this time around and just wasn't feeling in the mood to make a layout. I don't often make fun things like this but I thought, why not? lol The blues and yellow match my MILs furnishings so this will probably be gifted to her ^_~ I want to make one for me now though, hehehe. The squares are simple 4x4. This was actually really easy to make and was inspired by the big hanging in the fall keynotes. Here are some close ups to show more detail:

It's got a bit of dimension:
Even though the crystal blue came out funny in this picture (my lighting in that corner is not too good), this picture really shows the fun dimension in this project. It also shows the ribbon's color a little better, it came out super bright with the flash, lol. Anyway, I want to thank all of you that have been playing in the color challenges with me! It keeps me motivated to continue to host them :D Hope you enjoy the colors and have a fantastic Monday!

Color Challenge #40

Finally some Thanksgiving colors for you, lol! To play use at least 3 of the colors and comment me with a link to your artwork so I can post it here. Have fun with the challenge and have a terrific Thanksgiving week!

Goldrush
Brown Bag
Garden Green
Cranberry

Alanna's Sweet You Are Card
Sparkle's Wonderful MFT Challenge Card
Marcia's Darling Snappy Birthday Card
Jena's Lovely Thanksgiving Cards

My Samples:

Supplies: Spot on Backgrounds, Playful Petals, Star Struck, and Say it in Style Stamps sets - all products CTMH

I made two cards for the challenge because I messed up on my turkey card, lol. Well I didn't mess up so much as the paper I RSed just seemed way to busy for the turkey. I used circle punches for the turkey's body, head, and eyes. Star Struck for his pupils and the trim around his belly. Playful petals for his feathers, wings and feet. He was fun to make for a one time thing but nothing I'd ever mass produce, lol. Here's the paper I made to go with him.

It's very fun but it took the focus away from the turkey. So I used the paper to create another card:

Supplies: Star Struck, Cottage Floral, and Friendship Wordpuzzle stamp sets - all products CTMH

I went away from the Thanksgiving theme and made just a fun flower card to fit the paper. I think it works out a lot better. This was very quick to make even with all the stamping I did. I am really loving these colors together. I wanted to try leaves with them as well, but we'll see if I get a chance for that later. I have a lot of other projects stacked up to do, so I might not get around to it. Anyway, have fun with the challenge! Thanks for stopping by :D

Color Challenge #39

I have still been in the Christmas mood lately and wanted another combo to play with using colors that could be used for the holiday season. I did try to think of some Thanksgivingish colors, but what can I say, the little snowman told me he wanted to play so I picked winter ones instead, lol. Or at least they are wintery to me ^_~ Let's see what you can come up with! To play use at least 3 of the colors and send me a link to your art so I can post it here. Have fun!

Outdoor Denim
Tulip
Heavenly Blue
Ocean

Jenn's Darling Penny Black Snowman Card
Alanna's Cute Then and Now Layout
Jenn's Sweet Snowflake Card
Jena's Fun Double Challenge Snowman Card
Sparkle's Sassy MFT Wanna Bone Card

My Sample:

Supplies: Cardstock, Serendipity Paper, Inks, Markers, Winter Wonder, Snow Friends, and Say it in Style stamp sets all by CTMH; Gold Stardust pen by Sakura

This card is flat, an added bonus when it comes to mailing! I added some gold highlights to his hat and scarf, though it just comes out as yellowish in the photo. The card was fun to make too, I basically just did stripes of paper, stamps, and cardstock across it and then added in the images :D I love these snowmen and am so happy to have fresh eyes this year to play with them with. I had seen so much artwork on them last year before I even received my set that by the time I got it I couldn't think of what to do with them, lol! Thanks for stopping by and have fun with the colors!

Color Challenge #38

You've probably all noticed I've been on a Christmas kick lately, lol. So the colors for this week are inspired by winter. I noticed that I almost never use Ponderosa Pine. With that in mind I started matching up colors and found that Juniper looks gorgeous with this deep green! Some neutrals and instantly a homespun winter feel came to my mind. With all the rage going on with kraft paper lately I thought I'd incorporate CTMH's closest neutrals to that. To play use at least 3 of the colors and leave a comment with a link to your artwork so I can add it here. Have fun with the colors!

Juniper
Ponderosa Pine
Bamboo
Desert Sand

Alanna's Sweet and Simple Anniversary Card
Laurel's Sassy Friends-Don't-Give-Friends Card
Pat's Darling Keep Smiling Card
Jena's Lovely Dance Layout
Sparkle's Sassy MFT Shoe Card
Jenn's Sweet All Decked Out Snowman Card
Emilee's Darling Double Challenge Snowman Card

My Samples:

Supplies: Cardstock, Perfect Day paper, Bamboo brads and hinge, Music of Winter, Friendship Large Alpha, and Sans Small Alpha stamp sets by CTMH

Even though I made this card second this is what I invisioned for the color challenge. A crafty homespun winter card. This was very simple to make and the inspiration for this card comes from the Smile card on page 78 of the CTMH Fall/Winter 2008 Catalog. I haven't used these snowflakes in ages though I just adore them and the large text in the Smile card really inspired me to do an oversized sentiment.

Supplies: Cardstock, Col White Ribbon, Juniper Brads, Gratitude, Cottage Floral, and Star Stuck stamp sets by CTMH

This card I made first. I wanted to try something a little different with my Gratitude stamp set and this definitely is different for me. I made the paper first and fell in love with the design so I changed the position of the panels from the SC201 card sketch so that more of the paper was seen on the card. I mixed my Cottage Floral set with the Gratitude and the petals match perfectly with each other!

Here is the paper I made for the card - Desert Sand, Juniper, and Bamboo stamped on a 4 x 5.25 sheet of Colonial white. I am absolutely terrible at random stamping, lol. I've done the triangle thing, just randomly stamping anywhere, or even trying to mentally place each image visually on the paper before setting the stamp down and it never turns out the way I want. But though I can't random stamp, I think I do okay with stamping out grid-like designs. I used the scallop circle in the star struck set, it made creating the paper so easy as I just had to stagger the circles then stamp the flowers inside! Anyway have fun with the challenge! Thanks for playing!

Color Challenge #37

It's November already! I can't believe how fast the past few months have flown by. It's finally fall weather here. The days are cooler more often than not and the nights have been getting quite chilly. I wanted to do more fall colors this week. When Sparkle put petal with the pansy purple I had in the last color challenge I immediately knew I wanted to do something using those colors together for this weeks challenge. To play use at least 3 of the colors and send me a link to your artwork so I can add it here. Have fun with the combo this week and thanks for playing!

Tulip
Petal
Pansy Purple
Creme Brulee

Sparkle's Sweet Vase of Flowers Card
Alanna's Pretty Laugh Card
Kim's Beautiful Love is Blooming Card
Jena's Lovely Butterfly Card (2nd Card down)

My Sample:

Supplies: Treasure Life, Homestead Alpha, and Spot on Backgrounds stamp sets, Creme Brulee Ribbon Collection, and Hollyhock brads and photo clip all by CTMH

I used the SC200 sketch for this card. I had seen quite a few cards using the pretty silhoutte flowers like this and thought I'd give it a try. My Mom's birthday is coming up so I think I'm going to be sending this to her. I also stamped on the inside which gave me a great idea on making a simple card set for her as a gift too. I'll be posting that later as I get to it.

We had a lot of fun on Halloween. Caitlyn had a blast at school and got a lot of fun treats, then we saw Poppa at work. He was dressed up as a Pirate. Cait was a little scared at first but then asked "Are you nice?" Poppa of course responded with yes, that he was a very nice pirate and immediately Caitlyn was fine again, lol. Paul and I also voted early, the last day to do so for us here in town and boy was an adventure for me since they said I had already voted. Long story short there was a mistake when my MIL voted and the computer said that I had voted right after her, which I didn't. The log said I hadn't voted so they fixed it and I got to vote. Of course I also held up the line a good bit on the last day of early voting, lol. But at least I got it done! We took some fun pictures and just hung out as a family most of the day :D

As for the other not so fun stuff, Paul has his dentist appointment later today so we will see how that goes. And the VA had to special order his Rebif prescription as well as get it approved first since it comes in different doses, so we still haven't received it yet. He's been up and down the past week, the pain in his mouth is what is bugging him the most. He's such a trooper and usually just pushes past his fatigue and other symptoms to try and at least get what he needs to do done for his classes and I do my best to take care of everything else. Such far we are doing as well as can be expected. I'm doing much better now emotionally. Thankfully it doesn't take me long to get out of those slumps and all the feedback from everyone here really helped me a lot. I mostly just worry about Paul still. He's doing his best right now to keep going with all his classes and stuff but the tooth thing and this relapse is wearing him down fast. I'm hoping the dental work he has done today helps a lot. I know it's been giving him headaches as well as a jaw ache so I'm sure if those were gone he'd be able to cope a whole lot better. Anyway, just know we are hanging in there! I hope you all had a great Halloween weekend! :D Thanks for stopping by and have fun with the color challenge!!

Color Challenge #36

More Halloween colors!! To play use 3 of the colors and send me a link to your creation so I can post it here. Don't forget to have fun!

Orange
Topiary
Sunflower
Pansy Purple
Black (optional)

My Sample:

Supplies: Discovery and Enchanted PP, CS, Ribbon anchor with brad, Spot on Backgrounds, Say it in Style, and Playful Flourishes stamp sets by CTMH; Orange brads and Ribbon unknown

I wanted to try and make a Halloween card even though I don't have any Halloween stamps. I picked up the small oval coluzzle template to try out these oval punch pumpkins I had seen before. The sketch is from SCS, SC199 horizontal version. The pumpkins were SO easy to make and I simply stamped the spot on background designs on them in orange and then ink distressed the edges. The faces were just free cut shapes from black CS though I was thinking felt would look so darling on it (I just don't have any). I had glued down all the panels before remembering that I wanted to put some of this ribbon on them so I had to improvise with one of the ribbon anchors and some brads. Overall just a fun card. Caitlyn loved it, saying the jack-o-lanterns were a mommy and a baby and that they were her friends, lol.

And isn't this little farm girl such a cutie!! This is one of Paul's old hats. I've never seen him wear it other than just fooling around and I was seeing if I missed any Halloween decorations in one of the storage tubs when Audrey spied this hat in there and immediately claimed it before running off to pretend to garden again. While she was wearing it she kept saying she was a boy, lol. I guess only boys can wear these kinds of hats ^_~ I tried to convince her that maybe she was a farm girl or a cowgirl but she said "Nope. I boy, Mom-Mom!!"

10.20.2008

Color Challenge #35

It's starting to get close to Halloween. I love traditional Halloween palettes or variations of them so for the next couple weeks we'll be doing some Halloween combos ^_~. This week I'm using Creme Brulee again, just love that yellow! To play use at least 3 of the colors and send me a link to your creation. Have fun!!

Goldrush
Creme Brulee
Sweet Leaf
Smokey Plum

Sparkle's Darling Tilda Bagalope
Jena's Cute Cupcake Card
Alanna's Hoppy Birthday Card
Kim's Lovely You're a Star Card

My Sample:

Supplies: CS, Brads, Creme Brulee Ribbon Collection, It's a Party, Spot on Backgrounds, and Say it in Style stamp sets by CTMH

I have been loving all the little trees that are popular lately. Since I haven't invested in any tree stamps yet (just can't seem to decide which ones I really want, lol), I thought I'd try and just make some trees using what I already have. I used the circles from It's a Party stamp set for the leafy part of the tree and then just free cut the tree trunks. I think they turned out pretty cute ^_~ Have fun with these colors this week and thanks for visiting!

10.13.2008

Color Challenge #34

The colors this week are inspired by school. Whenever I think of the primary colors kindergarten and first grade some to mind. So I'm doing a play on that palette this week. Use at least 3 of the colors in a new project to play and send me the link to your artwork so I can post it here. Have fun!

Twilight
Cranberry
Creme Brulee
Brown Bag

Alanna's Sweet Thinking of You Card
Sparkle's Adorable Tilda Card
Jena's 8 is Great Card

My Sample:

Supplies: Cardstock, Twilight Brads, Creme Brulee Ribbon Collection, Nursery Bash and Life's a Jungle stamp sets by CTMH; Red Cardstock by Bazzil (I'm out of Cranberry :P)

I miss making square cards. The only reason I don't make many of them is because I like to be able to fit my cards in a standard invitation envelope for mailing, but I know I will be hand delivering this card to Caitie's teacher so I can get away without having an envie for it ^_~ I used Nursery Bash for the numbers and the little toucan from the Life's a Jungle stamp set because I always imagine him in primary colors anyway, lol. Have fun with the challenge, I can't wait to see what you all make!

10.06.2008

Color Challenge #33

I had to fight using an 'Ice Creamy' palette for Sorbet, lol. This week wasn't really inspired by anything except that I liked these colors together. I'm still a little on the fall theme but Sorbet is nice and soft so I wanted a nice, soft combo to go with it's debut color challenge. To play use 3 of the colors and send me a link so I can add it here. Have fun!

Sorbet
Taffy
Garden Green
Bamboo

Alanna's Sweet Hello Girl Card
Ashley's Pretty Treasure Love Card
Sparkle's Gorgeous Butterfly Card
Jena's Darling 1st Birthday Cards

My Sample :

Supplies: Cardstock, Parchment Brads, Col White Ribbon Collection, and Treasure Life Stamp set all CTMH

I have been trying to think of a card to make for my Aunt for the past few days now and decided to go ahead and use this color challenge for her card. I just found out she has cancer and I haven't seen her in like 9 years. And it's only been the past few months that I've developed the actual beginning to relationship with my own mom (this aunt is on my mom's side), so I kind of feel the need to try and build a connection with my aunt with what is happening but at the same time I feel awkward about it because we have never been close or even in contact. Paul urged me to go ahead and send her a card to let her know we are thinking of her and praying for her so this is what I came up with. I wanted something pretty but simple. I hope she likes it and that it helps her feel at least a little better.

9.29.2008

Color Challenge #32

Fall is in the air.... somewhere, lol. Not here where I am. The weather still gets up to the 90s and though it has been cooler this past week, I can tell we are still a bit aways from fall. But, it's the end of September. School days, cool nights, and the thought of falling leaves brings autumn into my mind. The colors are inspired by fall and this week we will be exploring Tulip. To play use at least 3 of the colors and then send me link to your artwork so I can add it here. Have fun!!

Tulip
Honey
New England Ivy
Vineyard Berry

Alanna's Turning 31 Layout

My Sample:
Supplies : Cardstock, Buttons, Season of Change, Hodge Podge Alpha, Spot on Backgrounds, and Playful Flourishes stamp sets all by CTMH

Since I was inspired by fall I wanted to make a simple fall card. I am loving Tulip! It works both as a red and as a deep pink. This was a quick easy card. One flourish stamped in New England Ivy on NEI cardstock, Spot on backgrounds stamped in Tulip on Tulip. The leaf bases were stamped first in Honey then rolled in NEI and Tulip inks, then cut out. I simply glued the card together then stamped the leaf outlines in vineyard berry right on the card. Fall was stamped in vineyard berry as well. Embellish with a few buttons and that's it! ^_~ Have fun with the challenge and thanks for playing!

I grew up always playing outside barefoot. My mom didn't ever have a problem with this, after all she grew up in the Philippines and went barefoot everywhere out of necessity. And it's funny that I would be so concerned with my girls having shoes on when they play outside. After all, I'm still going around barefoot, why shouldn't they? Well, I think the answer to that is that I'm way more protective of their perfect little piggies. But my girls follow the barefoot heritage of both me and my mom and run around barefoot outside as well. It reminds me of the many summers my brother and I spent outside barefoot and when I remember those times, it doesn't seem like such a terrible thing that they are running through the grass without their shoes on.

I really want to say thank you so much to all of you that posted comments or emailed me with support and encouragement about Caitlyn, or even just to say hi over the past couple months. It makes all the difference to read your encouraging thoughts and quick check ups. So thanks! We've been doing pretty good the past month. It's still a bit hectic, but I think I've got it down to where I can make some time to create at least a couple times a week. Now it's whether or not I can get the creative flow to work when I get that time, lol. Hopefully though, I'll be able to start doing the color challenges consistantly again ^_~. I've got some fun artwork scheduled to post throughout this next week of the very few layouts I've done over the past couple months, lol. So stayed tuned :D Hugs to all my readers out there! Thanks for sticking around!

Alright, I'm up on time this week ^_~ Colors for the challenge are inspired by my hubby's wardrobe since this next week it's his birthday. To play use at least three of the colors and send me a link to your art so I can add it here to this post. Have fun!

I was actually looking for a picture of Paul to use when I found this picture of Caitlyn. I have scrapped all her baby photos and this was a duplicate that had been changed out of a frame, but it fit so perfectly with the color challenge that I had to scrap this photo as well. Plus back then I didn't scrap the stories, so here was an opportunity for me to write a little about how much I loved to make Caitie wear hats ^_~ Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

7.29.2008

Color Challenge #29

Colors were inspired partly by chocolate and partially by just boy colors. To play use at least 3 of the shades in a new project and send me a link to your artwork so I can add it here ^_~ And have fun playing!

I made one of those fun Joy Fold Cards that SCS has a tutorial for this week. I had fun but without my mojo I was really having a tough time putting this one together. This has been such a hard week for the color challenge, I'm telling ya, lol! If I had just done it while I was in my scrappin' groove over the weekend it would have been fine, but no I had to wait because I'm a terrible procrastinator. So getting past scheduling wasn't too bad, only that I realized when I finally got a chance to sit down that I had absolutely no mojo. Then I had a mom meltdown, we won't go into that, lol. So last night ended with nothing finished. Today I woke up feeling much better, talked and played with the girls a bit, had breakfast, then started the color challenge. I was having fun making the interactive card so that was good. But when I went to post, my hubby's mouse wasn't working (a problem he discovered earlier this morning and was trying to fix). So I get my mouse and plug it into his computer. I am going through all this trouble because he has my photo editing software on his computer. Then the entire computer freezes on me. I reset and try to work again and.... the keyboard doesn't work. It looks to be two things... either a virus, which I am doubting, or the ports are dead which is more likely since they sit right next to each other. And that really irks me because his computer isn't even a year old! Anyway, I retake the pictures (because now he is in safe mode doing a thorough virus scan just in case, plus he's on the phone with HP to try and figure it out, and my pictures were on his computer), upload the new ones to my computer, then take forever to edit them online in photobucket. *sigh* Hopefully you all will have an easier time than I did trying to get this done, lol. Thanks for stopping by and reading my tirade ^_~ And have fun with the colors this week!

7.20.2008

Color Challenge #28

The beach was my inspiration for the colors this week. To play use at least 3 of the colors and comment me with a link to your artwork so I can add it to this post ^_~ Remember, if you don't have the exact colors, to just use whatever shades you have that are close. Have fun!!

Crystal Blue
Bamboo
Desert Sand
Buttercup
optional Heavenly Blue

Sparkle's Fun House Mouse Card
Sue's Beautiful Fall Woods Card
Marcia's Adorable A Little Something Card
Jena's Fun Best Buddies Layout

My Samples :

Papers : Crystal Blue, Bamboo, Buttercup, and White Daisy CTMH CS
Stamps : Friendship Flowers, Cottage Floral, Serendipity (CTMH)
Other : White Ricrac, Circle Windows, White Embroidery Floss

I wanted to do something fun and different so I made a circle card which I haven't done in two or three years, lol. I forgot how fun they are to make. I did a lot of fun stamping and layering with my favourite floral set, Cottage Floral by CTMH.

Papers : Crystal Blue, Bamboo, Buttercup, Heavenly Blue and White Daisy CTMH CS
Stamps : Paradise (CTMH)
Other : Harmony Sassy Strands (CTMH), CTMH Markers

I actually made this card first but it wasn't what I had in my head. I still think it's cute, just not quite what I had in mind for the sample. Some coloring with the markers to fill in the image, it was way handy that the buttercup marker on the crystal blue stamped image made the green for my palm tree and grass ^_~ TFL and have fun with the challenge colors!

7.14.2008

Color Challenge #27

So, I kinda posted a peek at the color challenge colors this weekend. I had actually been early and made my samples Friday evening. Then when I was playing with my bellas, I used the colors again on halobella ^_~ The combo is inspired by spring and summer flowers. Or bright pink ones anyway, lol. To play use at least 3 of the colors and send me a link to your art so I can add it here! Have fun playing!

My Samples :

Uses Say it in Style and Sweet Flowers. My set is actually unmounted red rubber on the EZ Mount since I never got around to buying the acrylic set. I sand distressed the second card quite a bit but left the first one alone. Simple bug embossing for texture and some RAKed organdy ribbon for embellishment. TFL and have fun with the color combo!

Color Challenge Listing

The Color Challenge Listing - To make it easier to find the past color challenges on my blog here is a post that I will update to contain all the color challenges. Clicking on the challenge takes you to the original post for that particular color combo so you can see my example and others from ladies that participated. Guidelines for the color challenges are simple. Create a new project (layout, card, altered item, etc.) that uses at least 3 of the colors listed. If you don't have CTMH shades use whatever you have that is close :D I have a CTMH/SU conversion link at the bottom of this post to help if you have SU colors. Or you can just eyeball it ^_~ I hope this makes it easier for anyone who wants to play in the past challenges. They are all still open so if you create something using one of the old challenges, send me the link! I love to have your samples on the posts ^_~ Have fun creating!

Color Challenge #26

Can you believe I've been doing this for 6 months now? It amazes me because when I started I was posting them just for fun. You know, something interesting to do on the CTMH consultant forums. I didn't really think about the after. I thought, hey a couple challenges here and there and then some other people might start doing some challenges too so we can mix it up a little more. Well, here we are 6 months later and I've done a color challenge every week! It's not always been up by Monday, but it does get done at least once during the week, lol. ^_~ And this week's inspiration comes from a couple of old favorite colors, sweet leaf and buttercup, and a new favorite, honey. There are only 3 this week so have fun creating!

Sweet Leaf
Buttercup
Honey

My Sample:

I went Nursery Bash crazy today. I adore this set. I think the animals are too cute and aren't too babyish so they work with more than just baby cards. Say it in Style and Cottage Floral Sets also used. Flowers by Prima and the "it's a cupcake thing" from stampingbella. All cardstock, the ribbon and brads are from CTMH.

These are super simple and quick cards. I only used scraps to make them all. I first found bigger scraps and cut out card bases. Then I arranged the bigger left over scraps to be layers on the cards and last matting. Bulk ricrak and flowers for embellies and voila! For a little history on the colors I've always loved buttercup and sweetleaf. Sweetleaf is definitely my favorite green and buttercup is one of my favorite yellows. In fact buttercup, baby pink, and key lime were the first colors I ever bought from CMTH. I still have my old original ink pads too, they are the ones I let my daughters use when they stamp with me. I actually didn't like honey when it came out. There was a golden yellow color before it that I thought was uglier, lol, so honey was an improvement but I just didn't see myself using it very often. Until the last couple of months my honey cardstock and ink has been virtually untouched. I know it's in the winter palette but to me this color is all summer. I took a look at it again with some summery pictures and colors and wham! I realized this is a great yellow! I loved the name since I love honey in my tea ^_~ and now I love the color. I threw in orange on my samples since orange is another of those colors I really didn't like until these past few months. In fact now orange is one of my favorites! I specifically look for summer papers with orange in them now. And to think last year I hated orange shades, lol. Anyway, I can't believe it's been a whole week since I created something! I guess we've just had too much fun with family and just chillin' this last week ^_~ I hope everyone had a great 4th of July and have fun playing!
