Another Fall Chloe Card

Two cards in a single week, I feel like I'm on a roll ;) Sparkle's weekly challenge this week is to make a card to hold a gift card. I needed an extra b-day card for this month and since I already had another Chloe stamped out I decided to play with her again. This time I tried for some polka dots on her scarf ;) Here's the inside:

Unfortunately I'm catching a cold or something, which means that I don't feel like doing much of anything. Making this card was a little bit of a pick me up but already I'm feeling worn out again. I've been trying to take it easy at home so that I don't miss class. Luckily I busted my butt this weekend and got a lot done for my art class so I'm not falling behind with all this lazing around, trying to get better. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the card ;) Thanks for popping by and have a happy Wednesday!

Fall Birthday

Another month has flown by and it's so nice to finally sit down and craft. Can you believe I haven't bought any crafting stuff in 2 months?! I guess that's what happens when you've got a family and you go back to school, lol. I feel like all my free time is spent trying to get time in with them. I had gotten a few goodies back in August but haven't gotten to touch them and my desk still has the Halloween papers I was going to do more crafting with from back at the beginning of October. While this isn't new paper really, it is paper I hadn't cut into yet ;) This card is for Sparkle's #17 stamp challenge. Both Sparkle and LHM are doing this sketch challenge this week. I'm in need of a few fall b-day cards so Chloe was up again. She's been my go-to stamp for birthdays. It felt so nice to play with some paper and glue!!

The weather here has finally cooled down enough to be called fall ;) We had a pretty hectic October and unfortunately the girls didn't get to do any trick or treating this year. C came down with a bad bug and by the Thursday before Halloween she sounded awful and was running a fever. The doc said no school or trick or treating unless the fever was gone, not only was she very contagious but the cough was moving down into her chest. So she ended up missing school for a couple days and also Halloween. Because they didn't get to trick or treat (A still got to go to one Halloween party with a friend), I made a fun witch/treasure hunt game for them. It lasted about an hour and a half and they used nerf guns to shoot down ghosts, found hearts to turn their zombie dolls and animals back to normal (we made little cardstock masks and taped them to their faces), and had to follow a map to find the Witch's Watchtower, shoot the witch down, and blow up the tower with golden grenades (candy they collected throughout the hunt). The girls had a blast and it was fun to make up a role playing game for them to enact. Thankfully, C's cough was much better by Monday and her fever gone. It always worries me so much when they get so sick like that! Anyway, tomorrow I'll be getting them in their costumes to take pictures, now that C is all better ;) Thanks for visiting and have a lovely weekend!

Spooky Chloe B-Day Wishes

Nearly a month has flown by since I last made a post! While my classes aren't difficult and I've knocked out 2 of my 6 courses already (they were at your own pace online classes), I haven't set aside the time to craft even though I'm sure I could carve it out somewhere. Every weekend I tell myself, today I'm going to create! Of course from my lack of posts it's obvious that creating, I have not. Well, at least nothing of the scrappy or sewy sort. But this Sunday we're doing a family get together and I needed another b-day card, so it was the perfect reason to check out Sparkle's weekly challenge and play along with the sketch this week;)

This particular card is for one of my sis-in-laws. I love making her halloweeny b-day cards since hers is so close to the holiday. The girls and I are really excited for this weekend because not only are we having the birthday get together Sunday and A will be celebrating her 5th, but we are also decorating for Halloween on Saturday. It's a fun newer tradition for us now that we've been collecting decor the past couple years and the girls love going through the storage totes and pulling out all the fun holiday goodies! Anyway, sorry for such a long time between my last post, I'm hoping to get on at least once a week but we'll see ;) Either way enjoy the card and I hope you're all having a wonderful fall!

Sweet Surprise Ruby

This week #3 SCRS Challenge is an inspiration challenge. I needed a jump start on mine so I ended up using the ESS #93 card sketch via Sparkle's Blog since the inspiration photo simply made me crave dessert. We have the goodies for strawberry shortcake so that will satisfy my sweet tooth for now ;) Isn't Cupcake Ruby a cutie pie? I hope she's sharing that cupcake with some friends! Enjoy and have a great Thursday!

Celebrate Chloe

The week #2 SCRS Challenge is a sketch ;) I heart sketches so very much, they just make creating that much easier! I flipped the sketch horizontally to fit Chloe. I really like how my coloring came out on this one, especially with the pretty stickles on her scarf, helmet and scooter! They are repaving our complex's parking lot which means during this week we have to park outside of the complex and walk in. It's not too much of an inconvenience for us since we live closer to the front and don't mind the walk. But this morning the paving guys broke a water main, cutting off water from the entire complex. I had just gotten back from the gym all sweaty and gross when I found out. y.u.c.k. I changed my clothes since I can't shower yet, and I still feel yucky. I know, just what you all wanted to read about right, lol. So I've been doing anything to keep myself occupied including making my challenge card. The line's getting a temp patch right now and should be finished in another hour or so but they'll still have to shut the water off tomorrow to do the actual repair. Blah. I'm not looking forward to it but at least tomorrow I'll be prepared and won't go to the gym in the morning since this one doesn't have any showers. Ah well, at least I don't have to pay for any of it ;) Anyway, if you want to play in the challenge here's the link. Enjoy the card and I hope you're all having a better day than I am! Chloe certainly is ;)

Scooter Chloe Love

Scooter Chloe is my favorite of Sparkle's first stamp release. When I first saw Chloe these papers popped into my mind and I was excited to finally have her in my hands to combine her with them! I used the #56 sketch from 2sketches4you since it had a circle in there and I knew from the start I wanted to do a card with the image in a circle. I love her scarf and it totally makes me wish for fall. It's been getting up past 110 degrees here and even though it's only mid-July I am aching for the cooler autumn weather already! Enjoy and have a happy Monday!

Daddy Cake

Supplies : Stripe and Dessert Paper by Basic Grey, Orange print by Pebbles Inc, and blue dot by My Minds Eye; Border by Pebbles Inc.; Journaling paper by Creative Imaginations; Thickers and Remarks letter stickers by American Crafts; Cardstock by American Crafts; Circle and Heart punches by EK Success;

Trying to use up more scraps ;) I used a March Pagemaps for this layout, another resized 8.5x11. This was such a funny cake. Paul's sister wanted to do something different for him this year so she made this cake of Paul. The girls called it the 'Daddy cake'. I was happy they took pictures since I was out when she brought it over and Paul and the girls had eaten a big chunk of the Daddy cake before I got home, hehe. Too fun! Enjoy the layout and have a lovely Sunday!

Hey There Cupcake

Supplies : Paper, Cardstock, and Cupcake Collection stamp set by Papertrey Ink; Blush, Watermelon, White Daisy and Cranberry Ink by CTMH; Rhinestones by Kaiser;

This card is for my sister since her birthday is the day after Valentines. I thought it would be fun to make a very Valentine colored card ;) Last year I did hearts but not Valentine colors really so this year I'm going full on with the girly pink and red! I learned that she likes to bake so I'm thinking about getting her a cute whisk with some cupcake silicone molds, we'll see what I find. I used another old sketch from the 2 sketches for you blog and changed the position of the sentiment since it looked a little funny the other way with my card. Anyway, enjoy and have a happy Wednesday!

I Scream!

Supplies : Paper by October Afternoon (various collections); Thickers Letter Stickers and Christmas Cupcake Flair button by American Crafts; Rhinestones by Kaiser; White mini ricrac; Circle Nestibilities; Sweet Blush cardstock, Journal Jots stamp set, and Raspberry Fizz ink by Papertrey Ink; Basics 1 Slice Card;

This week the supply challenge on Practical Scrappers is pattern paper! I guess that's not really a challenge for me though since I'm always using my patterns, lol. I did do a little cutting out with my patterns which is something I haven't done a whole lot of. The cherries by the top journaling were cut out from paper and pop dotted on the layout and the star element was cut using my Slice and also pop dotted to the layout. I used sketch #29 from Inspired Blueprints for the layout. It's a little older, but it's also a sketch that I never got around to playing with. The star balloon Audrey's holding in the picture was inspiration to use this sketch ;) Thanks for popping on by and have a great Tuesday!

An Orangey Cuppy Cake Card

Supplies : Paper by My Minds Eye; Raspberry Fizz Ink, Twine, and Cupcake Collection Stamp set by Papertrey Ink; CS, Orange and Ocean Inks by CTMH; Buttons by Doodlebug; Ribbon by Pebbles Inc.

I had this darling Anya image with a cake on her head partially colored with the blue, orange, and raspberry. It must have been months ago that I started coloring her and I never got around to finishing since I didn't have any particular card in mind at the time. Then when I was browsing through my scraps of these papers I remembered her, because the colors matched so perfectly. So I cut my panels and set up my card base, cut a mat for her and went about finishing the coloring and... I ruined her! My skin tone marker leeched some of the black and got on her face around the edge. I wiped off the marker thinking to save her and started in the middle of her head, I know what was I thinking? Anyway, you can image what a big mistake that was! There was still some black left over so she had a greyish peach smear in the middle of her forehead. So I thought it's just for a kid maybe I can divert the attention to her mouth and figured red would be cute.... another disaster!! Alas poor Anya though her dress, hair, and cake hat were cute, she ended up so badly colored that I cannot even bare to take a picture to show you, lol. So here we come to where I saved my card base (thank goodness I hadn't glued her mat down to the card yet!) and I went with quick and simple since I was still recovering from my coloring loss. I think it turned out pretty cute. Inside I stamped three star candles in the raspberry and then over it Make a Wish in ocean. This card was sent to my little niece along with one of those cute dolls I made for her 3rd birthday. My how time flies! It shouldn't surprise me that she's three. She's only a year younger than Audrey and we've been sending her Audrey's hand-me-downs since she was born but everytime I see a pic of her I think, 'Oh my gosh she's getting so big!' Anyway, enjoy the card and thanks for popping by!

Seven Cards for Seven Kidlets

I think I've just found my new favorite way to make kid's cards! Just two sheets of double sided pattern paper and a couple sheets/scraps cardstock and I was able to make these seven darling cards. I had bought these two papers together with the intent of recreating the cute playground layout in my local scrapbook store. I even got the diecut flowers to go with it. Well, two years later and the paper and diecuts still sat unused since I couldn't find photos that I felt went with the paper. So I decided I should make some little boy cards for our nephews' birthdays which are coming up in the next few months.

Supplies : Paper by Pebbles; Cardstock and Brads by CTMH; Robots from Stamping Bella; Thickers letter stickers by American Crafts; Bunnies by Greeting Farm; Precut flowers from LSS using Bazzil Cardstock; CTMH and Copic Markers; Pop Dots;

Of course after putting together the two robot cards I thought I might as well just go ahead and make cards out of all the paper. It worked out perfectly too since I could use the flowers on the cards for our nieces and the Riley card could be used for another nephew even though his birthday isn't until March. It never hurts to have them already made, especially since I often forget until that day to make a card! My fun new discovery was simply cutting out the cute stamped images and putting them on the cards instead of doing the usual matting.

A little while back I had seen a simple birthday gift set that used the number stickers to use for ages 1-9. I thought it was a great idea to use up the numbers in my thickers set so I applied that to these cards. I noticed this also helps me remember who I have cards made for. With 8 nieces and nephews and another on the way it gets a little crazy trying to keep track of just the kid's birthdays! Anyway, I hope you enjoy my quickie kidlet cards and have a terrific Thursday!

Happy Birthday Monsters

Supplies : Stamp by Stamping Bella; Paper - Basic Grey, My Minds Eye, Scenic Route; Cardstock - Bazzil; Thickers - American Crafts; Sharpies, copics, and CTMH markers; white gel pen

The second bella birthday challenge was a sketch challenge and this is the card I made for Shannan's sketch. I mixed up a lot of different scraps and love how fun and bright it came out. I really liked my coloring on this much better and I've noticed that I have to keep relearning that I don't always have to completely match the colors in my creations for them to look good. These monsters are so cute and Cait immediately loved it saying they were birthday monsters and that the balloon was for her birthday, lol. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

Seize the Cupcake!

Supplies : Pattern Paper - Basic Grey; Cardstock - Bazzil; Flowers - Prima; Brads and markers by CTMH; Sentiment printed from my computer

This card was made for one of the challenges on the bella forums this weekend celebrating Em's birthday :D The challenge was to use 3 embellishments and 7 layers. It was crazy for me to use so many layers on the card but I did it, lol. When I finished though, I realized I had put 4 embellishments on instead of three. Since my card face was REALLY glued down to the card base I just pulled off the second flower since I knew I wouldn't be able to get the brad off without tearing something up. My coloring wasn't the greatest on this one, I think I should of used my pencils instead but oh well. She came out all right :D Anyway, enjoy the card and have a fantastic Tuesday!
