Pretty Paper

So I have four swaps left to complete now. My cookie recipe one could be done but I wanted to see if the B&T I ordered makes it look even better or just too busy. So that leaves the fairy swap, little girl round 1 two pager, and the little girl round 2 one pager. I want to be doing the little girl round 2. My title is 'When in doubt, Accessorize!' and I've already got the entire thing planned out. The only problem is there are still 2 spots open in that one, three in the two pager, and I don't want to start making pages until the hostess is certain we can fill the spots. Therefore I was left with doing the fairytale one. Not that I don't want to do that one. I love fairytales, love my quote and page design, it's just that one of the stamp sets I wanted to use for the title is also in my order that isn't here yet and probably won't be here until next week. In the meantime though, I made some B&T for the layout.

We're sleeping.... really!

Both Caitlyn and Audrey love it when I play stuff animals with them, or just pretend play with any of their toys. And when a toy or lovie is sleeping, I make the trademark fake snoring sound effect "ssnnaahh---chhooooo". This is really funny because the girls will imitate it every so often in their own play or will want me to pretend I'm asleep. Now for the real kicker. I'm making my usual rounds tonight through the house to tidy up after the girls have been put in bed and I hear them jabbering. Usually at this point I walk up to their door and crack it a bit more open to check on them, then tell them to go to sleep. But before I got to the door I suddenly hear Audrey fake snoring. Caitie says something in a whisper, but Audrey keeps fake snoring. I wait for a few moments, laughing to myself as I listen to Audrey attempting to not get caught staying up before leaving and the moment I start to walk away, she giggles. I couldn't help but to laugh outloud at that and could just imagine her in her own little mind thinking 'mommy didn't catch us.'

Wrapping paper = Card 2

I decided to go ahead and make Audrey's birthday card using the basic same design I had with our niece's. Initially I wanted to use my white gel pen to do the doodled circles on the B&T but unfortunately it appears I need a new gel pen as mine is dead, hence the embossing. The really good thing is it still turned out cute!!

Colors : Pink Carnation, Baby Pink, Orange, White Daisy
Papers : Baby Pink CS, Pink Carnation CS, Orange CS, White CS
Stamps : Solo T, Groovy, Confetti and Favors
Inks : Pink Carnation, Orange
Accents : Baby Pink brads, white embossing powder and acetate

I did change the colors a little. Instead of bubblegum and watermelon I just used pink carnation. So the colors are pink carnation, orange, baby pink, and white. Stamp sets are solo T (the circle), confetti and favors, and groovy which I haven't used in a really long time (like almost 2 years). Now for my embossing horror story. I had read on the some scrapping boards that you can make your own embossing buddy using baby powder or the like and putting it into a sock. You rub the sock over the paper and voila, it's supposed to keep the embossing powder from sticking to the paper so that your stamped image comes out clean when you emboss it. Well, complete backfire! I did this and my powder clung to my transparency vehemently!! I was blowing on it, flicking the back, anything to try and get it off. Needless to say I wasted a bit of powder since it went everywhere except on the paper I was using to catch it so I could put it back in the jar. The flower ended up coming out alright though, even after my powder battle.

Halloween almost here?

I know that technically Halloween is more than three weeks away but I can't help but feel it's going to be like, next weekend. Caitlyn already has a costume, Princess Aurora, that is absolutely gorgeous. Of course she has to wear it all the time ^_~ even though it's not Halloween yet which is fine by me. A twenty dollar costume should get more use than just one or two days, so wear away!! Audrey's was a bit tougher. Everywhere I looked they had scampy toddler costumes until finally I fell across one online while looking on oriental trading company for envelopes. I usually hate paying shipping for clothes but the costume is so adorable, a little patty cake chef, so I did it anyway. It comes with a chef hat, dress and apron that is so Audrey since she is my little cooking helper. The only thing is it won't get here for two weeks. I know her costume will be here before the week of Halloween but I can't help but feel this urgency to want it to get here faster just to be certain. Aside from that we finally got out our few Halloween decorations that are now dotted around the living room. A soft plushy spider (he's pretty big) that Audrey loves and Caitlyn is scared of. He has a cute little pumpkin on his head and Audrey will chase Caitlyn with him which sounds funny, and I have to admit even I laugh when she does this, but it really is frightening to Caitie. We also have a plushy bat that both the girls love so they get to play with him and the spider usually has to stay up on the piano so that Caitie doesn't freak out. Every day since I've gotten the decor and plushys out, both girls want me to play with the bat whose name has become Skeek, because he squeaks (not really, I have to make his voice for him). And with Halloween candy, costumes, and other paraphernalia out there, it's hard to not feel that Halloween is almost here.

Swap crazy

I must be nuts. Either that or just really bored, because I've signed up to do four swaps!! Two are pretty easy. They are 6x6 recipe cards and I've already finished all of them for one of the swaps and have everything done except the putting together part for the other one. But the other two (thank goodness they aren't due until Jan), are 12x12 swaps. One of them I'm in 2 rounds of it and one of those rounds is a 2 page layout. So yeah, I guess I went a little overboard when signing up last night and this morning. The good thing though is all of them are things I really want. Anyway, here's my finished one. It turned out so cute. I think my next project will be to decorate a box for all the 6x6 recipe cards I'm going to get :D. After Christmas though, I have way too many other projects to be finishing right now :S.

Colors : Sunflower, Outdoor Denim, White Daisy
Papers : School Zone ('06), Sunflower CS, Outdoor Denim CS, White CS
Stamps : Doodle Alpha

Recipe is from a friend. She gave it to me a couple years ago and boy do we use it a LOT! It's one of our family favorites and I love it because it's sooooo easy to make. Colors are sunflower and outdoor denim. The B&T was from the back to school pack and stamp set was doodle alpha. I adore those little birds!! :D

They couldn't be sisters, could they?

I finally got to look at the roll of film I just had developed and let me tell you the first time I had to do a double take when flipping through the pictures as I thought both were Audrey for a second.

I didn't do this on purpose, or at least I don't think. Caitie ALWAYS wants to wear her yellow dress. The moment it's out of the dryer she puts it on. In fact the majority of her week is spent in 'The Yellow Dress'. Audrey I think just happened to be wearing her little yellow outfit and I usually do their hair like this or Audrey's hair in pigtails and Caitlyn's in a ponytail. Boy did they look so much alike!!

Here are both of them together looking at bugs if I remember correctly. They couldn't be sisters could they :D .
