Color Challenge #40

Finally some Thanksgiving colors for you, lol! To play use at least 3 of the colors and comment me with a link to your artwork so I can post it here. Have fun with the challenge and have a terrific Thanksgiving week!

Goldrush
Brown Bag
Garden Green
Cranberry

Alanna's Sweet You Are Card
Sparkle's Wonderful MFT Challenge Card
Marcia's Darling Snappy Birthday Card
Jena's Lovely Thanksgiving Cards

My Samples:

Supplies: Spot on Backgrounds, Playful Petals, Star Struck, and Say it in Style Stamps sets - all products CTMH

I made two cards for the challenge because I messed up on my turkey card, lol. Well I didn't mess up so much as the paper I RSed just seemed way to busy for the turkey. I used circle punches for the turkey's body, head, and eyes. Star Struck for his pupils and the trim around his belly. Playful petals for his feathers, wings and feet. He was fun to make for a one time thing but nothing I'd ever mass produce, lol. Here's the paper I made to go with him.

It's very fun but it took the focus away from the turkey. So I used the paper to create another card:

Supplies: Star Struck, Cottage Floral, and Friendship Wordpuzzle stamp sets - all products CTMH

I went away from the Thanksgiving theme and made just a fun flower card to fit the paper. I think it works out a lot better. This was very quick to make even with all the stamping I did. I am really loving these colors together. I wanted to try leaves with them as well, but we'll see if I get a chance for that later. I have a lot of other projects stacked up to do, so I might not get around to it. Anyway, have fun with the challenge! Thanks for stopping by :D

Color Challenge #38

You've probably all noticed I've been on a Christmas kick lately, lol. So the colors for this week are inspired by winter. I noticed that I almost never use Ponderosa Pine. With that in mind I started matching up colors and found that Juniper looks gorgeous with this deep green! Some neutrals and instantly a homespun winter feel came to my mind. With all the rage going on with kraft paper lately I thought I'd incorporate CTMH's closest neutrals to that. To play use at least 3 of the colors and leave a comment with a link to your artwork so I can add it here. Have fun with the colors!

Juniper
Ponderosa Pine

Jenn's Sweet All Decked Out Snowman Card
Emilee's Darling Double Challenge Snowman Card

My Samples:

Supplies: Cardstock, Perfect Day paper, Bamboo brads and hinge, Music of Winter, Friendship Large Alpha, and Sans Small Alpha stamp sets by CTMH

Even though I made this card second this is what I invisioned for the color challenge. A crafty homespun winter card. This was very simple to make and the inspiration for this card comes from the Smile card on page 78 of the CTMH Fall/Winter 2008 Catalog. I haven't used these snowflakes in ages though I just adore them and the large text in the Smile card really inspired me to do an oversized sentiment.

Supplies: Cardstock, Col White Ribbon, Juniper Brads, Gratitude, Cottage Floral, and Star Stuck stamp sets by CTMH

This card I made first. I wanted to try something a little different with my Gratitude stamp set and this definitely is different for me. I made the paper first and fell in love with the design so I changed the position of the panels from the SC201 card sketch so that more of the paper was seen on the card. I mixed my Cottage Floral set with the Gratitude and the petals match perfectly with each other!

Here is the paper I made for the card - Desert Sand, Juniper, and Bamboo stamped on a 4 x 5.25 sheet of Colonial white. I am absolutely terrible at random stamping, lol. I've done the triangle thing, just randomly stamping anywhere, or even trying to mentally place each image visually on the paper before setting the stamp down and it never turns out the way I want. But though I can't random stamp, I think I do okay with stamping out grid-like designs. I used the scallop circle in the star struck set, it made creating the paper so easy as I just had to stagger the circles then stamp the flowers inside! Anyway have fun with the challenge! Thanks for playing!

Making more paper :D

Colors : Orchard Bouquet, Watermelon, Bubblegum, Black
Stamps : Totally Chic, Girly Girl, Curly Caps, Wedding

Last night I cut out all my colored cardstock for my next swap page. We only need one more person so I figured it was safe to make the pages. Today I random stamped the base page and I think it came out really cute! You can see the spots where I didn't RS because there will be paper there.

A close up of the paper. I love the Totally Chic stamp set, it is one of my favorites :D. The shoes, purses, and shoe script is from that set. The flowers and girly girl are from the girly girl set. Beautiful if from wedding and the word purse-onality is spelled out from the curly caps. It took a little over an hour to stamp out all 7 sheets of paper but it's finally done and I'm really happy with the outcome ^_^.

More paper for the swap

While waiting for my order to be processed, I've been slowly putting together my fairy swap layouts. Here is the base page I embossed for the layout, it's much prettier in real life!

Colors : Vanilla Cream
Papers : Vanilla Cream CS
Stamps : Fairy Dust
Ink : Embossing pad
Accents : Kaliedescope embossing powder by Stampendous

You can see the two spots I left open because there will be paper and a photo mat over those areas. I didn't emboss those spots to save on embossing powder and time since I had to make seven of these.

And a close up of the detail. This was tough because the embossing pad I have is supposed to be tinted slightly, but the stamp's impressions are tiny so I couldn't see where I had stamped. But even so, they still turned out beautiful!

Pretty Paper

So I have four swaps left to complete now. My cookie recipe one could be done but I wanted to see if the B&T I ordered makes it look even better or just too busy. So that leaves the fairy swap, little girl round 1 two pager, and the little girl round 2 one pager. I want to be doing the little girl round 2. My title is 'When in doubt, Accessorize!' and I've already got the entire thing planned out. The only problem is there are still 2 spots open in that one, three in the two pager, and I don't want to start making pages until the hostess is certain we can fill the spots. Therefore I was left with doing the fairytale one. Not that I don't want to do that one. I love fairytales, love my quote and page design, it's just that one of the stamp sets I wanted to use for the title is also in my order that isn't here yet and probably won't be here until next week. In the meantime though, I made some B&T for the layout.

Colors : Kiwi
Paper : Kiwi CS
Stamps : Playful Petals
