A Week of LOVE - Challenge Day 2

The challenge for today is to use this sketch and the color red somewhere on the card.

Here's my card :

Colors : Holiday Red, Twilight, Crystal Blue, Garden Green, Chocolate, Orchard Bouquet, Vanilla Cream, Col White

Papers : Floral Tapestry

Stamps : Love Is, Friendship Flowers (stems)

Accents : Chocolate satin ribbon

This card came out nothing like I was going to make it with the exception of the sketch placement, lol. I stamped my hearts, cut them out, and I WAS trying to make an artful bunch of lined up hearts or something to go in the rectangle spot. But the hearts wouldn't have that and they kept foiling my attempts over and over. Finally I gave up and decided to just toy with them while thinking and suddenly the light came on and the heart/flower thingy was born lol. I actually like this a lot better than what I had going on in my head ^_~.

*Edit* Soooo.... my hubby tells me my heart/flower thingy looks nothing like a flower, lol. I thought it did for the most part when I was making it but now that I look at it I think he's right. Oh well, my creative moment turned out not as creative as I thought, lol. I did want to use a bella originally with this sketch but thought I give this a try ^_~ And though my dear hubby gave my card the uh-do-I-hafta-answer look when I asked him about the heart/flowers (he never does this to my art!), he did say they looked like the halves of some butterflies, so a new idea was born!

*Edit* So I took some better pics this morning. I used the zoom and the flash this time. You can see a little of the flash hitting the pics in the second layout. It just kept bugging me that the colors were so off, lol! The pink is still pinker in person, but at least it's not as orange as the pics I took last night ^_~

I love this Mind's Eye paper. It's part of the Valentine Pack that I got. I had been saving it for something *special* and this was it. I also really LOVE this ribbon. I haven't used it before now because it's just so pretty! Sentiment is from the Just so Hippy set.

Made this for the SCS sketch challenge 162. I've been wanting to play with my Yertle ^_~ He's such a cutie! I also got my stapler out since I haven't used it in forevah! And I think I've been having something for green lately.

I made this from a regular sized file folder. I was trying to think of something to do with them since I have this stack that's just taking up space lol. I think this is what I'm going to make for family for Christmas this year. One for each of the kids and a family brag book for the parents and Nana & Poppa. Yes, I'm starting now. If I don't I'll never be done in time lol. The year before last I made my nieces and nephews kid sized quilts. I started that one in Jan and didn't finish until October! I had wanted to finish this today but it looks like I'm am going to have to order prints because both printers are being poopers :P On another note I glued all the paper to the book before thinking so I didn't get to embellish the front like I wanted. I'll just have to remember to make the cover first so I can cover up the back of the embellies with the paper with the rest of them. This one is the first so I've just been trying to figure it out as I go lol.

My day was pretty shoddy until later this evening. It was one of those days where things seemed to go wrong over and over (you know those kinds of days). By bedtime I was just glad that the girls didn't put up a fuss, so that helped a tiny bit to make it better. Then I got a comment from Sparkle which made me feel even better. And later at around 10 my hubby comes out and says 'Let's watch a movie.' Which is a pretty big deal since he had a rough day too and still has lots of homework to finish. But I think we both really needed a break. So we snuggled on the couch and watched Ocean's Thirteen, a very cute movie by the way, and I felt a lot better after that. So much better that I even felt like making a card! Here she is for the #14 Bella sketch challenge on SCS. Inspiration was from Good Luck Bear's layout. And yes, I am happy now :D

No art, just a weather report

No art tonight. I started a 2 page layout but I'm just not feeling motivated today so I'm going to subject you all to a mini weather report and pics of my cuties. We've had some pretty cold weather here the past week and a half. This Monday we had snow and last Monday we had snow which is really rare. I think we usually get just one lucky day a year when it snows, lol. These pics were taken last Monday when we had snow storm warnings. There was a calm for about 5 minutes when I got to take these pictures, then suddenly the storm rushed back in and we had ourselves a mini blizzard. But for those few moments, the girls had fun outside :D

Now I just need to take my SD card in so I can get the hundred or so pics printed, lol. I still have my Christmas pics on there!
